Bombina bombina?

Hi everybody,

I just came back from Croatia (Dalmatia) and I've found a small piece of water during the trip, with many B.variegata and some Bombina were suspicious.

Especially this one (from Kaštel Kambelovac, near Split)

Does anybody can tell me if that is a Bombina variegata or a Bombina bombina?

Hi Alexandre,

The large amount of colouration and especially colouration on the hands (fingers/toes) states to me that this is B. variegata, eventough the belly and the underside of the limbs aren't yellow. Also B. bombina occurs far more to the east.

Big composed visceral spot, femoral ventral spots connected with others and circumstances of find indicates belonging to B. variegata kolombatovici. However color of ventral spots, isolated sternalis spots and tiny subpharyngealis maculation indicates belonging to B. bombina. That's why I think it is B. bombina x B. variegata hybrid.

I found photography of similar looking firebellied toad from Croatia that is described as B. variegata- http://en.balcanica.info/2-7743
It seems that Bobby and Jeroen are right..

Ok thanks everybody,

I've send a picture on Euroherp describing as B.bombina, that's is not right, well I ask administrators to change to B.variegata or to delete it please.
