i think i see what you mean, and i have done as you have said, has it worked? After looking at a range map on CITES, the range of the common Lizards doesnt seem to extend down here, but maps are so unreliable.

I have taken my photos off as Jean-pierre has put them on for me, thanks Jean-pierre for that. 

OK, so the baby gecko is indeed a Tarentola mauritanica, and the Lacertid is a Podarcis liolepis, Catalan wall lizard.

Thanks to Mario and Jean-pierre, i have learnt to put up pictures, and i got my answer, thanks again.

i probably should have said this in the first post, but the lizard was about 8cm, that is why i thought psammodromus. I dont know if this would change your opinion of the identification.

are the lizards in the photos below liolepis also, they are from the same area as the lizards in my previous post, and is there any good way to tell what species is what within podarcis and lacerta. Is it size, markings, etc, or does it depend on location and habitat.
I was also wondering what species of snake will inhabit these areas and any tips on finding them. I used to find Grass Snakes and European Adders a lot in the UK, and before i came out my step dad took some photos of a Ladder Snake. But since being here i havent found a single species, despite searching almost all day. There are some beautiful Snakes here and i have done my research, but im wandering around and i have to remind myself that there are snakes here...somewhere.

Yes, these are Podarcis too!
Psammodromus (also the youngsters) are much more spiny - see pic of Psammodromus algirus, total length about 12 - 14 cm; south of Meknes, Morocco, April 2010

I see what you mean. I will look out for psammodromus, as well as other Reps. I have recently moved to away from the uk, and after months of research i am finally in Spain looking for reps. I will be fine with snake id's (i think) but a lot of the lizards are really confusing. :-)
