Smooth snakes from Åland, Finland
by Tom Hoogesteger - 28/8/2010 2h59In Finland Coronella austriaca is known only from the islands of Åland. There are very few records of the species, but our findings from Åland this summer suggest that the smooth snake might actually be more common than thought. We found quite a few of these awesome snakes, including some previously unknown locations. Here are some pictures from this summer.

A very big male specimen (69 cm!) with a remarkable striped dorsal pattern, unfortunately D.O.R.
