Hi Peter,
Thanks for your help.
No wonder I couldn't match him up from my guide books as he doesn't appear in either the Collins guide or the New Holland guide even though it says it covers every lizard in europe. Did it ever undergo a name change?
I was able to look him up on this site , there are a few pics but none show as vivid a yellow bib as mine but I suppose they can be very variable.
We have lots of psammodromus around the house I haven't seen one of these here before , are they uncommon?

The yellow colour of the throat is no distinct characteristic of that spcies but the back pattern differs from P. hispanicus in south-eastern Spain.
The Psammodromus algirus is probably the most common species in the arid areas of southern Spain.
