very interesting. I know several ponds where both species occur, and only once I came across a weird newt that could have been an hybrid, but I didn't take any pictures. It seems to me that although the species are similar, when they occur together in the same pond, hybridization is not so frequent.

Or maybe it's because hybrids are not as spectacular as other hybrids, like Triturus cristatus x T. marmoratus for example, and so we pay less attention? Anyway, I always tend to look very carefully at newts in ponds where both Lissotriton occur, and except the one I mentioned above, I've never come across one that look like an hybrid.
 

PS: I mistakenly hit the Lissotriton helveticus bullet in the poll, I meant to hit the hybrid one, so please do not count this Lissotriton helveticus hit!
