Dorset, United Kingdom
by Ilian Velikov - 20/4/2010 13h34This Saturday Liam Russell took me with him to a place near Wareham, Dorset. The main target of the trip was the Sand Lizard (Lacerta agilis). We had to catch as many as we could for Liam's PhD project (NOTE!You must have a special license for this!). We arrived at about 8:30 in the morning. It was already sunny and after a while it got hot!It was so warm that we couldn't catch many Sand Lizards, neither could we find any Adders. Anyway, all was not lost because we managed to find almost more Smooth Snakes(Coronella austriaca) than Sand Lizards :)Besides, there were also Common Lizards(Zootoca vivipara) and Slow Worms(Anguis fragilis) around, so it really was a very nice day and a great experience for me in the English heatland!
Here are some of the photos I took:

Thanks again to Liam and the other guys!
