Lifer!
by Vlad Cioflec - 6/4/2010 8h08Hi,
This Monday i cruised some roads close to the Danube with my wife and a non herping friend, who`s more into birds.
No interesting birds were seen, but the Easter bunny sure delivered some herps.
This was a good flipping spot, apart from lots of calling Marsh frogs and Fire -bellied toads.

The next spot we visited, deliverd some bitter sweet moments. We saw Spadefoot Toads among other species, but we were not able to get our hands on them.

The highlight of the trip was when our friend told me he saw a lizard swimming in the open manhole. Imagine my surprise when i saw this, after all those years i spent looking for it:

DANUBE CRESTED NEWT!
So, moral of the story is that sometimes, it`s best to bring a novice with you when fieldherping, to benefit from that beginner's luck.
Happy herping!
