ID help - Moroccan newt and frog
by Peter McIntyre - 28/3/2010 21h13Hello,
Last week, I took these photos of a larval newt and a frog in the mountains of northern Morocco. I would appreciate any assistance with IDing these species...

It appears that only sharp-ribbed newts are found in Morocco, but this larva didn't look like the Notophthalmus larvae I am used to in N. America, so I am not sure what it is. The local people said they never see large individuals in the water, or any salamander on land.

The frog was near a seep.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Pete
