Psammodromus hispanics - be patient
by Daniel Phillips - 28/3/2010 17h49Psammodromus hispanicus is one of my all time favorite lizards, what they lack in spectacular size they make up in with charm.
They are in my experience one of the most alert and on edge, yet trusting species.
This is just a quick post to let you know, if you're faced with a cat and mouse situation with a Psammodromus hispanicus and a bush... sit tight, lay on the ground, they'll be out ;)
I am aware that many other lizards can become quite relaxed, but in a land where most of the herps are extremely on edge and gone in a flash, it makes a nice change.
Here is a very close up shot from a recent observation (today !), note the sand on it's head.
