It is indeed nice to see these. Yesterday, in a pond in a park in the centre of Bath, UK, I saw a female Rana Temporaria with five males grasping her tight around the neck and waist. I never know what to do when I see that. There's a danger of the female being hurt or even killed, I think, but an attempt to remove some of the males would risk injuring them. I picked up the ball of frogs, and one male dropped off immediately, but the others held on, and I returned the whole lot to the pond. One of the female's back legs seemed to be broken and suspiciously red, so it didn't look good.
