French season starting slowly...

So Jeroen has already shown us some photos of local amphibians, Matthieu Berroneau from the west coast of France just uploaded some Pelobates cultripes photos to the galleries (check out te home page), it looks as if the season here in southern France is slowly starting up...

I've been out and was surprised at ow quiet the evening was, I did track down a pair of Peloytes punctatus, I couldn't see them, they were down in a ditch which was very hard to get to, but on my way back to the car I did stumble across one on in the road.

Great photos! Glad you have got used to the Canon SLR. Stil 3C here, it was today (27th) that frogs and newts began their migration last year in my village. Still too damn cold this time around...

Yes, the two pictures here :

I was with Jean Muratet, and we see in adding Salamandra salamandra, Lissotriton helveticus, Triturus marmoratus, Bufo calamita, Bufo bufo, Pelophylax sp. and Rana dalmatina. But no other pictures...

Reptiles are now awake, with at least Podarcis muralis, Natrix natrix and Hierophis viridiflavus... And tomorrow maybe T. lepidus...
