Now,that's interesting! How big was the gecko..turcicus doesn't get that much bigger than kotschyi! You say you saw it at home,on your house...may be you should look for it again..this time with your camera in hands:)..Would be easier to discuss it over an image of the animal! 

Hmmm... hybrid would be very unlikely, I think, because both species are not really that closely related. Maybe something else? 

How turcicus-like was the gecko? Are you sure it wasn't a bigger tham usual kotschyi? 

No it wasn't like kotschyi, it was very big and fat with skin and face of a turcicus. I said "wow, nice turcicus"! then I got closer and saw kotschyi's fingers! Very strange, I was so confused. I'll try to find it again.

Jeroen, what do you think by saying "maybe something else"? Do you have anything on your mind? 

Don't have anything specifically in mind, Ilias, but I think an alien species is more likely than a hybrid in this case. 

What about Tarentola mauritanica? This species lives in Patra, why not in Thessaloniki which has a big port, too? But of course this doesn't solve the question about the "Kotschyi-fingers". An introduced species sounds more likely to me.

I remember when I was in Zakynthos I found a Tarentola with kotschyi-like feet. I will try and find the photo and upload it.

Stefan, that was not a mauritanica for sure and not so big either. It was all turcicus, except its fingers, it was very strange... I realy need to find it again and given that those animals usually keep staying in a specific area, I believe I will. It's a matter of time :-)
Matt I'm waiting for that photo you're saying, maybe it's an abnormality geckos can have(atavism or something?)

could you describe this taxon? i think that it is not hemidactylus turcicus, the lizards on my photos are pink, not yellow or brown the same as real hemidactylus turcicus. but maybe they can change coloration? they appear in penumbra on the walls at night. sometimes they come into the buildings. they are small- about 8 centimeters and live for example in croatia, i saw them in pag and primosten.

yes, the geckos on your pictures are Hemidactylus turcicus indeed.

At the tailed geckos you see the zebra-like tail, typical for young turcicus.
