My name is Daniel Phillips, I was born on the 30th of May 1988 in Lewisham in London, England. Since I was 11 years old I have lived in southern France, and from the beginning I started to get interested in nature and especially in scorpions and snakes, generally what was considered by the public as dangerous, of course they are not, not where I live anyway.

I have gone from catching your common Viperine snake in the river to basically show off my stuff, to now, capturing and collecting data from each specimen, and studying population and species interaction in a personal domain.

I work with the Biologists at the University of Perpignan on their parasite research, the parasite in question lives in the Stripeless Tree frog (Hyla meridionalis), I do the field work accompanied by a Biologist to whom I thank for allowing me this opportunity to dive into the deep end of biology as I am not studying this. I am in the first year of the BTS IG (Brevet de Technicien Supérieur - Informatique de Gestion) specialised in application development, studying in Perpignan.

My main communication work is concentrated on my personal web site "Reptiles & Amphibians of France" (www.herpfrance.com) and this site allowed me to show off my progressing photographic and field herping skills and earn recognition among some of the most well know herpetologists in Europe. I to this date have had articles published in the newspaper, in various local newsletters and contributed photos to numerous articles and most recently to Jean Muratet's new book "Identifier les Amphibiens de France métropolitaine", I have also been transmitting all my data to the regional atlas database held by Phlippe Geniez, probably France's herping leader.

Since the creation of this site I have also become the webmaster of the French Herpetological Society
